The large fresh water birds such as Cormorants, Heron, Storks and Ibis are predominant with the large birds of prey easy to spot wheeling in the open skies. Also present are the smaller water birds feeding along the shores. But it is the combination of the lake lands with surrounding Acacia woodland and grasslands which makes this area so rich and varied in bird life. Boat trips on the lake will also reveal hippo and spectacular views of the dormant volcano Mount Longonot, the Aberdare range, Eburru and the Mau escarpment. There are plenty of activities around the lake. Visit nearby Hell's Gate with its fascinating geological rock formations and volcanic hot springs, Crater Lake with its population of Colobus monkeys or Elsamere, once the home of Joy Adamson and now a museum to the life of Elsa the lioness. Lesser-known species such as topi, hartebeest, waterbuck Eland and many small mammals create a kaleidoscopic picture of wildlife. All meals and overnight stay will be at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.

Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort is only an hour's drive from Nairobi. It is located on 150 acres of grassland on the southern shore of Lake Naivasha. Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in Kenya's Great Rift Valley. Acacia trees and bushes decorate the hotel grounds, adding to the African ambiance. The Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort was constructed to wind its way through the trees so that none of the trees fell to make way for buildings. This is why the main public building is unusually shaped, making graceful curves around the vegetation. All this greenery attracts nearby animals – you see a few Safari animals like giraffes, hippos, waterbucks and monkeys on the grounds. As a leading Naivasha Hotel from the Sopa Lodges Hotel-chain, Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort features 21 two-story cottages aligned in a crescent shape. The buildings have colorful stones covered in climbing vines and flowers, the unusual-looking roofs form sweeping violet arcs over the structures. Each cottage in Sopa Lodge Naivasha has two rooms per floor. Bottom floor rooms have two queen-sized beds and include a lavishly furnished living room which opens onto the gardens. Top floor rooms have a single king-sized bed and a furnished balcony with wrought iron railings. Each room has its own fully-equipped private bathroom. When you are not enjoying the comforts of your cottage, you are welcome to have a drink or bite to eat in the huge dining annex with an outdoor patio, poolside restaurant or one of the two bars. Or opt for extra relaxation in the in-house health spa; one of the few Spas in Lake Naivasha
